Volunteering Adventures

Food for Children is a non-profit, non-denominational organization that works as an inner-city mission united in God’s love. This organization provides food, encouragement, clothing, prayer, and other essential items of necessity to people in need. They also establishing relationships with the people they serve by extending a listening ear, showing love and affection, and providing emotional support.

I have been volunteering at Food for Children since I was in third grade. I serve as the youngest member on the board of directors as secretary. Every Saturday morning food is handed out to over 350 families. Three years ago my best friend and I started what I call ‘after-deliveries.’ We deliver left-over food to churches in Manchester, Litchfield, Londonderry, Hooksett, Hudson, and Merrimack NH. No longer is the food going to waste, but hundreds more families are able to get food that they may not have been able to get before.

My day volunteering last from 8:30am to around 6:30pm. I have found such joy in giving back, and every week there are always new and exciting things that happen. It is a journey and an experience I am very grateful for and that I would love to share.
